Treehouses Based on Classic Literature Beckon

Summer reading has never been more fun as classic literature beckons children to climb the Treehouses of Cheekwood.   Following advice from Henry David Thoreau to "live the life you have imagined," my daughter, Taylor, Lindsey, Laila and I spent a Sunday afternoon steering the Jolly Roger, calling a group meeting with the conch, seeing a world of color, and swimming with the rainbow fish.  The exhibit runs through September 3, 2012.

"Things could change...Things could be different.  There could be colors."--Lois Lowry, The Giver, 1993

The Conch House--William Golding's Lord of the Flies, 1954

The Jolly Roger--J.M. Barrie's Peter and Wendy, 1911

  1. Thanks for sharing the experience! I'm more inspired to go than ever. The girls are beautiful-they'll always remember that day.
